Microsoft đã phát hành một bản vá sẽ ngăn các chương trình bị treo khi bộ chọn quản lý bộ nhớ DPMI 16 bit tham chiếu chéo trong quá trình cấp phát bộ nhớ. Các chương trình 16 bit sử dụng lệnh gọi API GlobalAlloc () cho nhiều phân bổ bộ nhớ lớn (1,5 đến 8 megabyte) trong liên tiếp có thể khiến các chương trình ngừng phản hồi (treo).
